Reception to Honor Rev. Jay Cousino

Sunday, June 23, Noon, The Cup

Please join us in celebrating eleven years of youth ministry of Rev. Jay Cousino at St. Andrew at a reception in his honor. There will also be an opportunity to present Jay with a Love Offering. The reception will be held in The Cup, with cookies and punch. Please stop by after The Well 10:39 a.m. service, Sanctuary 11:00 a.m. service, or your Sunday School class.

The church will be closed July 4 and 5 in observance of Independence Day.

Communion Help is Needed 

First Sunday of Each Month

Communion servers are needed for the 11:00 a.m. worship service on the first Sunday of each month. No prior experience needed; expert training will be provided. Contact: Rev. Steve Robertson, 214.291.8046.

Vacation Bible School at St. Andrew

Turn It Up! VBS

June 24-28, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Open to students age 4 through rising 5th grade. All students must be 4 years old as of September 1, 2012. $20 for first child, $15 for second child, $10 for third child and $5 for a fourth child. “Turn It Up” is a five-day VBS that takes a journey through the Bible, giving kids context for God’s Big Story. Help kids discover how they can be a part of the story when they turn up the power of God’s love in their life. Online registration is now closed. Walk in Registration will close Wednesday June 19. Summer Camps At St Andrew

Drama Camp

July 8-19, 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Ages rising 3rd-rising 5th grade. $150.00 per child. Children will learn music,choreography and staging. Auditions will be held June 17 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Andy's Place. Children will be expected to be "off book" (all lines and music memorized) by the first day of camp. Camp is on a first-come first-served basis with limited space. Science Camp

July 22-26, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Ages rising K-rising 5th grade. $90 per child. The students will travel the world of science through the 5 senses (sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste). This camp is designed for students to investigate, observe, create, and build an appreciation of the world of science. Please have students wear comfortable clothing that can get messy.

Camp is on a first come first serve basis with limited space. After the camp is full we will create a waiting list. Click here to register.

Movie Madness

August 7, 14 and 21, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Ages rising K-rising 5th grade. $25 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. Pixar Animation Studios has taken American cinema by storm. Their movies are both highly entertaining and surprisingly wise. This afternoon camp will watch a Pixar movie and have a devotion about the movie with a Christian perspective.

Summer Fun Days

We are full for Summer 2013. Here is the information so you can plan for next summer.

Join us for Summer Fun Days filled with crafts, music, Bible stories, and more for children ages 6 months to 6 years. Scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, May 29 and ending on Wednesday, August 14 (excluding VBS week and the week of July 4). Cost is $25 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. This year we are limiting the number of dates per family to 8 to allow for more families to enjoy the fun. Covenant Group

What is a Covenant Group? Covenant groups are small groups of guys or girls all of the same age and gender that come together and meet on a regular (weekly) basis. They have one (or two) primary leader(s) who are committed to setting a Godly example and pouring into the lives of the youth in their group. The groups are structured around the Bible and creating strong, authentic Christian fellowship among group members.

Project Transformation

Meals Signup for July 14; Reading Dates are July 1-3, 9:00 a.m.-Noon

Project Transformation is an 8-week summer reading program for inner city children facilitated by college interns and partnering Methodist churches. This is St. Andrew's twelfth year to participate. Each child is paired with a reading volunteer to read one-on one each morning. Volunteers read with different children for 30 minutes each. The child picks out a book that is at his or her skill level.

St. Andrew participates by having volunteers read for 1 week at Walnut Hill UMC and by providing two meals for the college interns.

Seven Loaves Backpack & School Supply Drive

July 1-August 18

Please donate generic backpacks (black, dark blue, or red) that can be used by any age or gender child that are filled with the following items:

Elementary School Age

  • 1 pkg. notebook paper (wide ruled)
  • #2 pencils
  • 1 pkg. colored pencils
  • 2 black ink pens
  • 2 red ink pens
  • 1 dry erase marker
  • 1 eraser
  • 1 yellow highlighter
  • 2 spiral notebooks (wide ruled; yellow, blue, green, or red)

Middle/High School Age

  • Same as elementary list but notebook paper and spiral notebooks should be college ruled

Please drop off at St. Andrew UMC at the Mission Center or the pantry donation drop off in the youth rotunda.

Help us reach our goal of 500 filled backpacks for pantry clients! Don’t want to shop? Make a donation to offset cost of backpacks and other school supplies we can purchase.

Shoes for Kids

Legal Aid of NW Texas holds monthly Plano clinics at Seven Loaves Food Pantry. Attorneys and legal aids, this is your chance to use your gifts to help those in need.

Each pantry day there is a need for 3,200 grocery bags. Please collect your grocery bags and drop them off in the youth commons area.
