Instrumental Groups
St. Andrew Orchestra
The St. Andrew Orchestra, led by Terry Metzger, provides an opportunity for young players and adults to join together and provide instrumental leadership in our worship services. The group continues to experience significant growth, but they always welcome new members. Brass, string and saxophone ensembles meet regularly in addition to the full group. Why not dust that horn off that's been sitting in your closet for years, and join us?
Rehearsals: Sunday, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Choir Room
The Bells of St. Andrew
The Bells of St. Andrew ring in worship once a month on third Sundays. Under the direction of Lynn Hayes, this ensemble has consistently remained strong over the years. Opportunities exist for smaller ensemble ringing as well. New members are welcome. (There are special requirements to be a member of this group.)
Rehearsals: Sunday, 1:00-2:30 p.m., Bell Room
Celebration Bells
A mid-week bell choir led by Bradley Reznicek.
Rehearsals: Wednesday, 6:00-7:00 p.m., Bell Room
Bells of Blessing
A handbell choir for our youth in grades 6 through 12, this group is led by Lynn Hayes. The youth in Bells of Blessing learn to read music, if they do not already possess that skill, and practice counting and rhythm techniques necessary for successful bell ringing. Basic handbell ringing techniques are taught as we learn to ring up to five octaves of Schulmerich handbells. This group rings for our Hanging of the Greens service during Advent, Maundy Thursday service during Lent, and other selected worship services throughout the year. We rehearse immediately preceding Salt & Light on Sunday afternoons during the school year so that students can easily participate in both groups.
Rehearsals: Sunday, 4:30-5:30 p.m., Bell Room
Children’s Chime Choir
The Children’s Chime Choir, led by Lynn Hayes, offers children in grades 3, 4, and 5 an opportunity to explore instrumental music and basic music theory. Rehearsing on Sunday afternoons during the school year immediately preceding Children’s Choir allows for convenient participation in both groups. We play three octaves of Malmark Choir Chimes and ring for the Children’s Christmas and Spring programs. If possible, we also schedule a time to play for a worship service during the year.
Rehearsals: Sunday, 3:45-4:20 p.m., Bell Room
Saxophone Quartet
This saxophone ensemble had its beginnings at St. Andrew and continues to rehearse and play in the worship services here, but their outreach has expanded to a much broader community. You may see them performing outside the church under the name Lone Star Sax Quartet.
Rehearsals: Ensemble Room 2
