Caregiving Ministry seeks Qualified Leaders

“Listen.
It is the greatest compliment you can give: that I am worth hearing.”
(from Donna Hoffman in Yes, Lord)

What is your two-year plan for living as a disciple of Jesus Christ?
Part of your plan may include Stephen Leadership. St. Andrew needs six people to make
commitments to serve in Stephen Leadership for 2006-07.

Stephen Leaders provide the structure and support to Stephen Ministry. They communicate the ministry, recruit Stephen Ministers, train Stephen Ministers, support Stephen Ministers, assess prospective care receivers, and assign Stephen Ministers to care receivers.

People with leadership skills involving training, communicating and relating, and organizing and administering, tend to make effective Stephen Leaders. St. Andrew needs five people to fill the roles of:

  • Public relations – Communications and awareness building.
  • Selection and Training -- Interview and oversee recruiting; organize and oversee training.
  • Supervision – Work directly with Stephen Ministers in Supervision meetings.
  • Continuing Education – Planning and executing continuing education events.
  • In-take and Referrals – Direct contact with care receivers; interviews and makes Stephen Minister assignments. .

Stephen Leaders are trained by the national Stephen Ministry organization during a one-week training seminar. It is a significant commitment to take a week for this training. In recognition of this, St. Andrew commits to cover the training expenses (flight, hotel registration fee, misc. meals).
