Létourneau
Organs
Located in St-Hyacinthe,
Québec, Létourneau
organs now boasts one of the best-equipped factories in North America.
The workshops provide ideal facilities where all organs are completely
designed, constructed, erected and tested prior to shipping and installation.
Facts
of Interest:
Taking just over
20,000 man hours of labor to complete the construction of the pipes,
frame and case, our new organ consists of 4,335 pipes ranging in all
sizes - the largest being almost 20 ft. long and 1 foot in diameter
and the smallest pipe will be the size of a pencil. Some are
round, some are square. Some are metal, some are wood.
The sounds will
include trumpets, oboes, flutes, violins, a french horn, and even
a harp. Some of the lowest sounds will be produced by big speakers
measuring over 25" in diameter. These will be felt rather
than heard!
Some of the pipes
will be straight and some will be hooded at the top (bent over to
fit in the case).
A most striking
visual and aural feature will be the magnificent Trumpette en-chamade
which will be mounted vertically under the Rose Window. This
is a high-powered trumpet which will give breath to festive moments
in worship and announce the arrival of numerous brides!
