Please consider the following immediate recurring and one-time volunteer needs that your church has in worship-related areas. If you can fulfill one of these duties, please contact Chris Crook at ccrook(at)standrewumc.org or 214-291-8037. Thank you!

Recurring Opportunities

Sanctuary Pew Attendants (once a month; ground floor and first balcony)

Volunteers are needed to pass through all pews, rearranging hymnals and Bibles, replacing pencils, prayer cards, offering envelopes and new member cards. Ideally, two people would handle this. It takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes for two people to do this work. Each set of persons would take one week of the month. It is preferable for the work to be done on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The second week of the month is already covered. We need volunteers for weeks 1, 3 and 4.

Baptism Roses (Saturday)

A volunteer is needed to purchase a single stem rose and bud vase for each baptism family in the upcoming weekend worship services. There are no baptisms on the first weekend of the month; and there are, on average, 2 or 3 on the other weekends. A church member already funds this account. The volunteer simply goes to Tom Thumb on Saturday, purchases the roses and vases, then delivers them to the church parlor fridge. He/she will keep the receipts and turn them in once a month to the business office for reimbursement. This volunteer will be copied early each week on an email detailing the baptisms for the weekend.

Baptism Roses (Sunday)

A volunteer is needed to collect the roses from the parlor fridge on Sunday morning and make sure they are placed on the altar table prior to the correct services. This volunteer will be copied early each week on an email detailing the baptisms for the weekend.

Ushers (quarterly rotation)

Ushers are so important to the work of this church. Additional persons are needed to support the Sanctuary services. Training is provided.

Audio/visual Support (once a month on average)

Additional volunteers are needed to run sound and assist with visual presentation in worship on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. Training is provided.

Guides (rotational basis)

Our guides are stationed on Sunday mornings throughout the church to assist visitors and members with basic questions: Where’s the 5th grade Sunday School room, where is Piro Hall, etc. We provide clipboards with all the information as well as any special events that day so you are in the know. Easy training available on any Sunday.
